A Simple Race Recap!
This race Recap is from the USHRA web site.
Friday Monster Jam hit Long Island like a spring hurricane Friday night. Nine monsters, quads, and freestyle motorcross all gave the crowd an on-your-feet performance.

Gravedigger drew a bye run next Madusa lost to Wrenchead, El Toro took out Gunslinger, Sting defeated Spiderman and Goldberg defeated Monster Patrol. Second round pairings saw winners Wrenchead, El Toro, Sting, and Gunslinger moving to the final four. El Toro moved on to the final with a win over Wrenchead and Gunslinger defeated Sting with a D.Q. as Sting failed to stay on the course. I n the final Gunslinger could not answer the call due to breakage and Sting got to return to face El Toro Loco. Winner was El Toro giving driver Lupe Sousa his first USHRA WIN.
Quad Wars pitted Team Baltimore against Team New York in a bitter battle. Baltimore came out with wins in the first and second heat and after making some rude comments about team N.Y and their fans got the boys from Gotham City fired up for the main. Determined as any team could be New York and captain Tommy boy Conner came out and raced as hard and as fast as they ever had. Baltimore team captain Mike Sudden tried to hold off then.Y. onslought but could not pull it off. Winner in the main team New York.
Freestyle motorcross has quickly become a crowd favorite and Friday nite was no exception. Four riders came out and teased the crowd in the first half with a display of high-flying action and came out in the second half with an individual competition. In the end the crowd voted Clint Esposito of Queens as the winner.
Freestyle monster truck action saw a tie between Sting driven by Tony Farrell and Gravedigger driven by Charlie Pauken. Each got a perfect 30 score from the judges. In a final cheer-off the win went to Gravedigger. Tied for 3rd place in freestyle was Monster Patrol, El Toro Loco, and World Champion Goldberg.
The big trucks, quads and cycles will be back in action Saturday night at 8 and Sunday afternoon at 2pm.
Saturday
It was Deja-vu all over again for Monster Truck fans at the Nassau Coliseum Saturday night. Racing action started and freestyle ended with Grave Digger. But there was a whole lot more in between. The racing action for Monsters saw Sting driven by Tony Farrell come to the line against Madusa. The crowd was cheering for Madusa all the way but the first lady of the USHRA could not keep up with Sting. With Sting as the race winner let's check the other action tonight.
Quad Wars continued for the second night with Team Baltimore and Team New York going at it tooth and nail. Baltimore won the first heat and New York raced back in the second heat. With things tied it was an all out war for the main. Team New York ended up as the winner in a very close race. The Baltimore team vows to get a win tomorrow afternoon.
Freestyle motorcross saw Derek Burlew, Jeff Palazzi, and Clint Esposito work hard for the crowd with the New York rider Esposito getting the win and a full three minutes of cheers. Freestyle continues to gain in popularity as crowds love the action.
Freestyle monster action saw both Goldberg and Gravedigger roll. Lupe Sosa and El Toro Loco received a 28 with an outstanding freestyle, Goldberg was given a 28 by the judges. When Gravedigger went over the huge Moto landing ramp he did it sideways, landed on the van in the middle of the track and bounced rolling over on to his top. Charlie Pauken jumped out of the truck and led the crowd looking more like a cheerleader than a driver.
Gravedigger won the first two freestyle competitions for the weekend
Sunday
Sunday afternoon is supposed to be a quiet time for friends and family. This was not the case for the thousands of Monster Truck Fans that came to the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale.
Nine big monster trucks raced on the roundy-round course, quad wars action was fast and furious between team Baltimore and Team N.Y., and the Freestyle Motox riders gave the crowd a super display of their high flying abilities.
Monster racing went this way, Gravedigger got a bye run in round #1 due to this freestyle the night before. Gunslinger after problems most of the weekend took out El Toro Loco and Monster Patrol defeated the world Champion Goldberg.
In round two it was Gravedigger beating Sting, Spiderman driven by Lee O'Donnell over Wrenchead Gunslinger again with a win over El Toro and Madusa upsetting Monster Patrol who did not stay on the track and was disqualified.
In the final four Gravedigger got his trip to the finals by taking out Spiderman, Gunslinger beat Madusa and the finals pairing was set.
In the race final Gunslinger the big Ford from Florida beat Gravedigger handily and proved that he again this year wants a trip to the World Finals in Las Vegas for a shot at the title.
Quad Wars saw Baltimore lose to N.Y. in heat one but come back to take the flag in the second heat as the times got faster with each lap. By the time the main for quad wars started the little four-wheeled rockets were turning a lap time of under :11. In the main it was a clean win the the New York boys with Chris Troccoli handling the captains duties for Tommy Boy Conner who could not make the Sunday event.
Freestyle Motox had some homecooking going on with the crowd giving the win to the kid from Massapequa, New York, Clint Esposito. The fans were on their feet cheering on all the Freestyle Boys. Freestyle Monster competition saw some very tough judging with Monster Patrol, El Toro and Madusa all getting scores in the high 20's but it was a tie between Sting and Gravedigger that forced a cheer off to determine the winner. While fans loved the high flying action of Sting, it was the non stop jumps, crushes and wheelies by Gravedigger that gave him another Championship in Uniondale
